“Always be myself
and
Be a creator not a follower”

Mei Hui Liu,a Taiwanese, who gives vintages laces new life. Since 1999 Mei Hui Liu started her business. In the beginning, she designed some clothes by using vintage lace and vintage fabrics .And she sold that in Poterbello market,It became popular ,so she earned some money and open her shops .Like her clothes, she is a creative woman. Her fashion attitude is Always be myself & Be a creator not a follower.

She prefer to use British flags design clothes. Her style is quite gothic, romantic and Vitoria, maybe a little bit Vivian Westwood.I think she mix British culture in her design. Many people are curious about her vintages come from, and what her next plan? Will she become the next Vivienne Westwood? We interviewed  herself, and let her tell you answers.

Q1: How to get enough material to sure the quantity of the production?
Because In the beginning , I didn’t think too much , so I didn’t have enough budgets and specific sources of materials and fabrics , but I ‘ve designed clothes for many years, from ten years ago to now, so there are many materials which I have. Of course it’s difficult to find materials now, so the price is higher than before. Probably that is one of my weaknesses, I can’t calculate the budget.

Q2: Where your vintages come from?
Two friends can help me find vintages, and I buy all of they have.

Q3: Why you don’t  open the real store ? Do you want to open the store again?
Because now I don’t want to deal with too many things of the real store, which also cost too much capitalize price. Now I just want to run my online shop, and make it successful.

“I always keep my style.
Just be myself, and don’t follow the trend”

Q4:What’s your new collection inspiration?
I always keep my style, and use different materials design every collection, so I don’t have some special inspirations, just be myself, and don’t follow the trend. And my collections which are no seasonal.

Q5: Who is your target?
From teenagers to old peoples, they are both my clients.

Q6: Is it difficult to produce a great deal of your products?
Yes, my collections are all hand made, and each clothes just has only one, so when it sold out, there is no available.

Q7: Do you promote your brand by any ads & campaigns?
Now I just have some pop up stops in London. In past years, I held some fashion shows in London fashion week, which cost money. If there is any sponsor can help me organize fashion shows and real stores, which will be good to me.  Now I just want to focus on the design.

Q8: Do you think is there any goal you haven’t achieved?
Yes, a lot of. If it’s possible, I wish I can own my production line, because I know I have the ability to do that, but there is no sponsor.

Q9: What’s the biggest particularity of your products? What’s your marketing strategy?
Eco-fashion, we use vintages make clothes, which are handmade and unique. We have an online shop. And let old clients recommend new clients our brand.

Q10: Do you think the probability of people buy your useful clothes is higher than the clothes for show?
Yes, people buy useful clothes more than the clothes for show. But the clothes for show, which also was sold out.

Q11: Some people like to compare you with Vivienne Westwood, how do you think?
I like Vivienne Westwood, because she has the identity .Most brands usually follow trends, but she doesn’t do that. She creates the style of herself. Westwood prefer use some traditional British prints but I use vintages and laces make clothes, so we’re quite different.

Q12: Do you have any plan in the future?
I will have some pop up shops and exhibitions in London. My Facebook will post these kind events. And I hope my brand concept of recycling and eco-fashion can be expanded and identified by people.

Mei Hui Liu has a has a kind of character just like a born artist. She doesn’t use any advertisings and fashion shows prote her brand,Victim fashion street now.She just want to focus on her design. Finally, she said “I hope my brand concept of recycling and eco-fashion can be  expanded and identified by  people”.
