nature dye fabrics from MUJI
Last week we learned about ethical fashion.Ethical Fashion is an umbrella term to describe ethical fashion design, production, retail, and purchasing. It covers a range of issues such as working conditions, exploitation, fair trade, sustainable production, the environment, and animal welfare.
We,FPI(Fashion promotion and image)students need to work with FMM(Fashion managemant and marketing) students, and we should do a depth research for a ethical fashion brand,so we choice MUJI,which has high green reputation.MUJI–no-brand quality goods– is one of the most important global design companies in the world. Its concept of simplicity, functionality, originality and low cost is applied to all of its products, which in Japan include from food to architectural design.
In this project each one of our group has different role, and I pretend a creative director for products. So I focused on creative products of MUJI,and one of the secrets of MUJI is the close relationship with the customer. The work of the designer is to create solutions that ensure the greatest comfort possible in everyday life, now and in the future. To do so, simplicity and efficiency are essential, which are something very Japanese.
The Creative Director of MUJI Europe,Shoji Ito, he said“beauty and functionality sound different, but they are not really different things. Well-designed products are beautiful”.MUJI's products have simple design but functional. In addition,MUJI also cooperated with different brand, such as Apple and Lego.Muji To Go for iPad which focused on travel and mobility so those on the move can access services such as world clock, forex and weather. Another new innovative product called “Playing with paper and LEGO“, a collaborative project between MUJI and LEGO. There are 4 sets, each includes 120 LEGO pieces and 10 sheets of coloured paper all contained in a box. You will need to get this special puncher to make the holes that matches with logo pieces.
